Hibla Lokal Filipina ends with a creative explosion

BOAC, Marinduque -- Book Nook Marinduque led the culmination activities for Hibla Lokal Filipina 3 on November 25, 2022, Friday.

Students, educators and school administrators from different schools in the province were in attendance. Officials from the Marinduque State College (MSC) and the Department of Education (DepEd) also graced the event.

Dr. Victoriano Region, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, opened the program on behalf of MSC President. DepEd Division Superintendent shared an inspiring message through Dr. Josephine Marciano, Mogpog District Supervisor.

Participants made the culminating event exciting as they shared their creativity and talent to the audience. Students from Gasan District which composed of Bognuyan, Banot-Mahunig, Gasan Central and Bangbang National High School, under the tutelage of Randy Sales, wowed the crowd with their rendition of "Gasang-Gasang" which was a street dance usually performed during Easter Sunday.

With Music and Songwriting Mentor Ka Oski Loreto at the helm, students from Mogpog District which composed of Laon, Capayang, Ino Elementary School and Mogpog National Comprehensive High School made the event colorful and festive as they performed the “tubong”. The performers used endemic plants and flowers to make crowns and danced to the tune of folk music.

Tubong was a ritual of thanks and veneration to God, and was done to welcome and/or bless the people.

Young storytellers and theater artists also showcased their talents through their output which were the result of the training conducted by Book Nook on November 15-17, 2022 for storytelling and November 22-24 for theater arts.

Romilyn Brual and Carl Ian Lagar shared insights on their experiences during the training while working with the Faculty of Bachelor Culture in Arts and Education and Marinduque National High School (MNHS) Special Program in Arts at the MSC Integrated School.

In addition to this, carefully selected illustrated books were displayed, while the moryon masks were also given the spotlight.

Dr. Gerald Guiterrez, administrator of Mogpog Extramural Study Center, looked back through time and talked about how Book Nook which started as a community-based library in Mogpog became a province-wide initiative after only one year of implementation.

In celebration of such a milestone, Dr. Randy Nobleza showed congratulatory video greetings, as well as expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all the participants of Hibla Local Filipina 3.

To cap off the event, facilitators, teacher-coaches, principals supervisors and learners exchanged personal stories and insights with the hope of encouraging more people to connect to and make use of resources in Book Nook Marinduque proactively. (Ana Maria Korina D. Arcilla/MNN)
