BOAC, Marinduque -- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Marinduque conducted 'Technology Training cum Demonstration on PORTASOL Multi-commodity Dryer' recently.
Said event was attended by senior citizens, female farmers and entrepreneurs from Boac and Mogpog. The training was conducted to introduce PORTASOL Multi-commodity Dyer and encourage its use among farmers, and micro and small enterprises in the community.
According to Eleazar Manaog, Science Research Specialist, PORTASOL Multi-commodity Dryer is a specially designed equipment that hastens the drying process of produce such as rice grain, ginger, turmeric, root crops and fruits.
The PORTASOL was developed by Filipino scientist Francisco Pagayon and was claimed to be two to three times faster in and a more hygienic way of drying produce.
DOST-Marinduque would bring PORTASOL to other municipalities in the province to further spread the benefits of said technology. (Ana Maria Korina D. Arcilla/MNN)
