BOAC, Marinduque -- A total of 891 motorists benefit from the mobile emission testing conducted by the Land Transportation Office (LTO)-Boac District Office, recently.
Among them, 589 motorcycles, 265 tricycle for hire and 37 utility vehicles participated in the evaluation which aims to streamline the emission testing process and remedy the persistent issue of the lengthy queues at the province’s lone private emission testing center (PETC).
This innovative approach was made possible through the efforts of the agency and the local government unit of Boac with the support of the provincial government and LTO-Mimaropa which lasted for 12 days.
In a message, Vice Mayor Mark Anthony Seño expressed his gratitude to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for granting the local government’s request. He also added that the national agency is in the process of reviewing the two private emission testing centers who secured an authorization to operate.
“We sincerely thank the DOTr for providing their quick response to alleviate the congestion at the PETC and for helping our fellowmen in securing the much needed requirement in renewing their vehicles. We are also grateful for the proactive efforts of LTO-Boac for facilitating the mobile emission testing,” Seño added.
The success of the program serves as an example of government agencies’ responsiveness to local issues, providing practical solutions for the benefit of the community especially the motorists and riding public. (Ana Maria Korina D. Arcilla, MNN)
